Fiorentina midfielder Borja Valero is dreaming of a call up to Spain’s World Cup squad after his fine start to the season.

The 28-year-old has just one cap to his name, given to him in June 2011, but his form since his move to Fiorentina in 2012 leaves him hopeful of making Spain’s World Cup squad.

“If I get a call to the national team then I’ll be happy, otherwise peace,” the former Villarreal man told Sky Sport Italia.

“There is always hope because to play in a World Cup would be something unique. I know it will be quite difficult for me, but a call would be very satisfying.”

Valero’s latest heroics came in the form of a brace in Monday’s 4-3 defeat of Hellas Verona taking his tally to five goals and seven assists for the season.

“We are looking at the table like everyone else,” he added.

“We are now fourth, but we are going to Roma at the weekend with the intention of winning.”
