Cesare Prandelli - ItaliaItaly coach Cesare Prandelli has said he is more concerned with getting the national team ready for the conditions they will face during the World Cup in Brazil than the opponents they’ve been drawn against.

The Azzurri will face England, Uruguay and Costa Rica in Group D next year.

The Italians will play in the difficult conditions of Northern Brazil with matches in Manaus, Recife and Natal but Prandelli insists his focus must be on preparing the squad.

“I’m only worried about the conditions because, no matter who you’re up against, you’re going to have to deal with the weather,” he told reporters.

“The team must start with great physical strength. Our preparation will be devoted to facing these conditions.”

The 56-year-old was also quick to stress that his squad have recent experience of playing in Brazil.

“We’ve already played in the Confederations Cup, so we do know what it’s like to play in these conditions,” he said.

The former Fiorentina coach went on to acknowledge the quality of Group D.

“We have a tough group,” he said. “Perhaps it’s the most difficult.”

“But when we face difficulty we always come prepared.

“When the media tell you it’s an easy group, that’s when you have to worry.”
