Vincenzo Montella rues the chances missed by Fiorentina and insists his team must be more clinical.

La Viola beat Verona 4-3 at home but hand many opportunities to seal the deal.

“It was a spectacular match,” Montella told Sky Italia.

“I give my best compliments to Verona for how they played, but we need to be more clinical and practical (defensively) because it’s not always possible to win just by scoring four goals.

“On some occasions 4-2 can end up 4-5, we need to play better and close out games so we don’t have too much pressure on the field, this shouldn’t happen and the match must serve as an experience.”

Montella spoke on the issue surrounding German striker Mario Gomez.

“Over the next few days Mario Gomez will train with the group, then I shall make my evaluation,” Montella said.

“We knew Batistua was coming and we’re pleased because he is a player who made history here.”
