Davide Astori CagliariCaglari defender Davide Astori has fuelled rumours of a possible January switch to Napoli as it looks increasingly likely that he will depart the Stadio Sant’Elia in the near future.

A move to the Partenopei only fell through in the final hours of the summer transfer window with the 26-year-old Italian international ultimately remaining in Sardinia, but following the player’s recent comments, it appears that the transfer could yet go through in the new year.

“Will my future be at Napoli? I can’t exclude it, I would go there very happily,” Astori told il Mattino on Friday.

While the Azzurri continue to follow Liverpool’s Daniel Agger, they have also reportedly re-opened negotiations with the Sardi for the former AC Milan youth product.

The Isolani held firm in their asking price of €14 million in August and the price has now fallen to €11m, but it is believed Napoli sporting director Riccardo Bigon not willing to go higher than €9m.

Having appeared determined last summer to keep hold of his most prized assets for at least another season, Cagliari president Massimo Cellino recently declared that all of his players were free to leave the club after he became angered by the ongoing issues regarding safety at the Stadio Sant’Elia.
