Parma coach Roberto Donadoni has sung the praises of his side following their 4-1 rout of Varese in the Coppa Italia.

Goals from Jaime Valdes, Gianni Munari, Raffaele Palladino and Aleandro Rosi against the Serie B side sealed the Crociati’s place in the fifth round of the competition to the delight of their boss.

“It was a really positive night for us,” Donadoni told ParmaLive.com.

“We approached the game in the right way, and interpreted the challenge well.”

The 50-year-old tactician also revealed that Antonio Cassano is desperate to play against his former side Inter at the weekend, despite having to wear a protective mask after breaking his nose in the 1-1 draw with Bologna.

“He has great desire to be there Sunday and tomorrow he will train,” the coach continued.

“We will evaluate together what will be best for him and if this mask does not bother him, then there is a good chance.”
