AC Milan goalkeeper Marco Amelia is to go against what he requested and is set to stay at the Italian giants.

The former Livorno and Genoa shot stopper expressed his desire to leave the San Siro on Twitter and was on the brink of departure after finding match time hard to come by but his agent has now explained he is willing to stay until at least the summer.

According to reports, the 31-year-old who is second goalkeeper to fellow Italian Christian Abbiati has now taken u-turn approach with regards to his time at Milan, now opting to remain put at the Serie A side.

Since the managerial change from Massimiliano Allegri to Clarence Seedorf, Amelia has now changed his mind and his agent stated:

“Why? It was for a simple reason, because of course he could see that there is a different view,” Franco Zavala has told milannews.it.

“It is not that he has been promised that he will always play, but that Seedorf will take him into account, not only if he plays but even if he does not play. I think there should be no problems.

“Could Amelia stay beyond the summer too? We will have to see what happens between now and June.

“We will see the consideration that he will have with this new coaching staff, then we will decide his future.

“Marco wanted to leave Milan to play, he wanted to earn a place at the World Cup in Brazil. Hopefully this space can be achieved with Milan and with Milan he can go to the World Cup.”

He continued: “His outburst at Allegri? There are guys who play and those who don’t and they should be treated in the same way.

“It should not be that they are supported when they are needed, and then when they are not, they are ignored. Nowadays, one of the main components [to coaching] is to be able to manage the group, try to treat them well, especially those who play less, with those that start there is not so much of a need.”

The ex-Italy international has only managed to play two games in all competitions for the Rossoneri so far this season.
