West Bromwich Albion striker Anelka grateful for Lazio interest

Lazio are still in search of a new striker and have most recently enquired on the availability of West Bromwich Albion’s Nicolas Anelka.

The French striker has been amid a lot of controversy following his quenelle salute against West Ham. The English Football Association has already moved to charge him for the gesture, but Anelka has stood firm in his willingness to move on from the incident.

Via his personal Twitter, Anelka has thanked Lazio and other clubs for the interest they have shown in him.

“Thank to Lazio and all the other clubs who wanted to sign me this last days,” said Anelka.

Anelka stated however that despite the difficulty he is facing, all his focus remains with pursuing with West Brom for the time being.

He added: “So now it’s time to focus on my football with my club and I will try my best on the pitch like I always do!”

Anelka has featured 11 times for West Brom and scored two goals this season.
