Cagliari president Massimo Cellino is reportedly close to purchasing the English club of Leeds United and has he already an eye on strengthening the squad with Daniele Cacia from Hellas Verona.

It is thought Cellino wants to bring the 30-year-old striker, who has scored 25 goals in 40 games, to Elland Road.

Leeds who currently are 12th in the English Championship are thought to be in the need of a goalscorer, as they only have Ross McCormack in attack, despite his 18 goals.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Cellino is eyeing the Verona forward as a potential partner for McCormack as Leeds look to make a return to the Premier League.

The Championship side are only six points away from that important sixth position which would ensure a playoff spot.

Cacia, who has stated that he wants to stay at Verona until the end of his contract which ends this summer, has also been linked with a move to MLS team Toronto FC, who already have signed striker Jermaine Defoe from Tottenham Hotspur.
