Inter and Chievo tied 1-1 in Serie A at San Siro on Monday night in Serie A action.

Alberto Paloschi put the Flying Donkeys in front early on before Yuto Nagatomo cancelled the lead in the 12th minute.

Despite the even start of the match, the visitors managed to get on the scoreboard after eight minutes when Paloschi came away with the ball, advanced in the penalty area from the left and beat Samir Handanovic with a strong finish in the top corner of the goal.

The lead was short-lived, however, and Inter soon came back on level terms. Ricardo Alvarez beat a defender on the right and sent a low cross in the middle, where Nagatomo had taken the best position and made it 1-1 by sliding the ball past Christian Puggioni.

About a minute later the Japanese international found the back of the net yet again, but the goal was ruled off with a controversial offside decision.

It was all Inter after the goal – the Nerazzurri enjoyed a lot of possession and threatened Chievo’s goal with crosses from both flanks, coming from play as well as set pieces.

One of these crosses found Rodrigo Palacio after 24 minutes on the edge of the six-yard box, but his header went just wide.

A rare chance for the Flying Donkeys came when Cyril Thereau received the ball in midfield and started an individual run towards goal. He managed to keep the ball from four Inter defenders and took a lofted shot on goal as he approached the penalty box but Juan Jesus managed to deflect for a corner.

Inter had the first good chance on goal in the second period when Alvarez was taken down by Boukary Drame right on the edge of the penalty area. The Argentinian burdened himself with taking the free kick and his curled shot was punched away by Puggioni.

A corner gave Chievo a good opportunity several minutes later, but Thereau’s strong header soared high above the goal.

The Flying Donkeys were at it again when Thereau and the goalscorer Paloschi broke away with only two Nerazzurri defenders between them and Handanovic’s goal. Despite good interplay between the two forwards, however, the Frenchman once again failed to call the Slovenian goalkeeper to action.

Simultaneously, frustration at the other end of the pitch increased as the Nerazzurri seemed to be running out of ideas to break Chievo’s defence.

Thus, the Flying Donkeys managed to grab a point at the San Siro following seven consecutive defeats at the hands of the Nerazzurri.
