The deadline day arrival of Ruben Bentancourt from PSV Eindhoven to Atalanta has forced Croatian forward Marko Livaja to consider his future with the Orobici.

Bentancourt arrived from PSV for a fee of €1.5 million and is likely to challenge Argentine striker German Denis for a first team place immediately.

This will affect Livaja’s playing time considerably and the young Croatian is likely to look for pastures anew in a bid to secure first team football.

However, Atalanta are seemingly unwilling to let their young star go as they see Livaja as a valuable asset who could still flourish given the right coaching under Stefano Colantuono’s leadership.

Livaja joined Atalanta in January 2013 from Inter initially as part of a co-ownership deal and has gone on to make 24 appearances for La Dea scoring four times.

The attacker has featured regularly this season, making 14 league appearances in total, scoring on two occasions.

The Croat has previously been linked to Catania in the January mercato as a possible replacement for Maxi Lopez, who moved to Sampdoria.
