Luca Antonelli - GenoaNapoli boss Rafael Benitez is believed to have blocked the signing of Genoa defender Luca Antonelli.

Antonelli had been widely expected to sign for the Partenopei during the winter mercato, but negotiations are now thought to have ended after Benitez decided that the Grifone left-back was not the reinforcement needed in the Napoli back four.

According to Sport Mediaset, the Spanish tactician rejected a move for Antonelli so that the club could focus on signing Zenit St Petersburg full-back Domenico Criscito.

The 27-year-old Campania native is valued at approximately €16 million by Zenit and has been heavily linked with a return to Serie A in order to secure a place in the Italy World Cup squad.

Criscito joined the Russian side in 2011 following spells with Genoa and Juventus.
