New Napoli signing Jorginho has revealed that he is looking to learn from his new team-mates and head coach Rafa Benitez following his recent arrival from Hellas Verona.

The young Brazilian-born Italian midfielder, who made his Azzurri debut as a second-half substitute in the 1-1 draw against Chievo, claimed that rather than setting long-term goals he is hoping to improve game by game.

“I’ve had a wonderful welcome from everyone,” the 22-year-old told his first club press conference.

“My goal here is to learn from my new team-mates and from the coach.

“I don’t have any real goals from the season. I just want to go game by game and see what happens.

“I can look back at the end of the season and see whether it’s been a successful one or not.”

Jorginho also spoke about his role models as a player and how he is adapting to a new style of play in Benitez’s 4-2-3-1 system.

“I’m a very versatile player, I have covered many midfield roles but my favourite one is the centre-midfield. I like to control the ball and analyse the game. I have grown up as a player watching many champions like [Andrea] Pirlo and Xavi. I have watched them and tried to learn from how they do things,” he continued.

“Benitez is trying to get me used to the mechanics of this team. We play with two central midfielders, and is explaining all the different moves to me.”
