Serie A side Sampdoria have turned down the opportunity to sign former Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar, ending his unhappy spell with Queens Park Rangers, with new coach Sinisa Mihajlovic seemingly happy to proceed with current number one Junior Da Costa.

With the World Cup finals in his homeland fast approaching the Brazilian is desperate for first-team football and would welcome a return to the country were he excelled in his previous spell with Inter.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb the London club are just as keen to see the 34-year-old depart with them willing to cover the 2010 Champions League winner’s €350,000 wages until June, but it made little difference to the Bluecerchiati.

Cesar moved to Serie A from Flamengo in 2005 and quickly established himself at the Giuseppe Meazza where he went on to feature 300 times for the Nerazzurri, winning five consecutive Serie A titles.
