Clarence Seedorf has officially signed a two-and-a-half year deal to become head coach of AC Milan until June 30, 2016.

The Dutchman confirmed he was to replace sacked Massimiliano Allegri earlier in the week and on Thursday morning he arrived at Milan headquarters to sign officially.

The brief statement by the club said: “Milan communicate that Clarence Seedorf is the new coach of the first team squad and has signed a contract until June 30, 2016,” and it was followed by a picture of Seedorf signing his papers with vice-president Adriano Galliani.

The 37-year-old had still been playing with Brazilian side Botafogo but announced his retirement on Monday to assume coaching duties with the Rossoneri where he spent ten years as a player from 2002-2012.

Seedorf flew into Milan on Wednesday and was present for the club’s 3-1 win against Spezia in the Coppa Italia and having now made his appointment official will oversee his first training session on Thursday afternoon.
