Negotiations are ongoing this week between Fiorentina and Manchester United over striker Federico Macheda who the Tuscan club are keen to sign.

Macheda burst on to the scene at a very young age but has since had a frustrating time at Old Trafford, having loan spells at Sampdoria and Doncaster Rovers.

The Viola had hoped to bring him in last summer, according to TMW, and his contract with the Red Devils is set to expire this summer and he has yet to be offered a new one.

Macheda, still only 22, could be set to fly to Florence in the coming days in anticipation of making the same move Anderson already has in this mercato from Manchester to the Artemio Franchi.

The Gigliati, who are set to be without Giuseppe Rossi for up to three months and still have Mario Gomez sidelined, are keen to add depth to their attack as new man Alessandro Matri did manage two goals on his debut but then hobbled off injured himself.
