Torino goalkeeper Jean-Francois Gillet has had his Calcioscommesse ban  cut from three years and seven months to just thirteen months following a successful appeal at a National Court for Sports Arbitration (TNAS) tribunal.

The 34-year-old Belgian international had originally received a ban for three years and seven months in the match-fixing scandal during his time at Bari.

However, the TNAS have released a statement on the position of the player explaining that he has now been given a penalty of seven months for violating Article 1 of the Sports Code of Justice (CGS) in the match between Salernitana-Bari (3-2) in May 2009 and a further six months for breach of the same article in the game between Bari-Treviso (0-1) in May 2008.

The suspension has been reduced after the charges were changed from sporting fraud to not alerting the authorities to a potential fix in relation to the two Serie B fixtures.

Gillet will now be able to resume playing again from August, but will miss the World Cup with Belgium.
