Udinese star announces he will retire at the end of the season

Udinese veteran Antonio Di Natale has announced that this will be his last season as a footballer.

The 36-year-old had reportedly considering retirement for sometime and the striker announced it following Udinese’s 3-1 loss to Hellas Verona on Monday afternoon.

“I have already decided, in June I’ll stop playing football. It’s already established,” Di Natale told Sky Sports Italia.

The Italian has played for Udinese since 2004 after joining from Empoli and was Serie A top scorer for the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons. He also earned a call up to the Italian Euro 2012 squad, scoring in Italy’s tournament opener against Spain.

The veteran has scored over 150 goals for Udinese since joining them, and also has 11 goals in 42 appearances for Italy.
