AC Milan are hopeful of signing Samuel Umtiti from Olympique Lyonnais at the end of the season.

The 20 year-old is seen as an alternative to Botafogo’s Doria who sits at the top of the Rossoneri wishlist.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Frenchmen has caught the eye of recently appointed Milan coach Clarence Seedorf.

The Dutchman has begun remodeling Milan’s the defense with Philippe Mexes rumoured to be on his way to Manchester United.

Lyon continue to have financial difficulties and their final league position will influence their decision on sales.

Umtiti is a flexible defender able to occupy any position at the back and has a contract lasting until 2017.

However the French Under-21 international will discuss his future with the club’s president in June.

Other clubs such as Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal are alert to the situation and the proposed €8 million asking price.
