Despite interest from AC Milan in Paris Saint-Germain defender Alex, it is believed that he could be set to sign a contract extension with the French club that will thwart the Rossoneri’s attempts to secure him for free.

With the Brazilian’s current deal with the Ligue 1 champions expire in June 2014 the Milanese outfit were closely monitoring developments in the French capital as they continue to reshape their squad with minimal financial outlay.

However, according to Le Parisien the 31-year-old will be offered a one year extension to remain in Paris with the club keen for him to continue passing his vast experience on to young centre-back Marquinhos who they purchased from Serie A side Roma last summer.

The former Giallorossi man has made just 13 appearances for Laurent Blanc’s side this season with the World Cup winner apparently preferring experience over youth with Alex a virtual ever-present as they look to retain their Ligue 1 crown.
