Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero could play the last match of his career against his former side – in the blue and yellow jersey of the A-League All Stars.

The All Stars, made up of selected Australian league players and a coach, will host the Bianconeri at the ANZ Stadium in Sydney on 10 August.

On Tuesday, the Football Federation of Australia announced via their official website that Del Piero would be taking part in the game.

But the 39-year-old insists his feelings regarding his former club have not changed.

“When I talk about Juve I cannot use the word ‘against’,” said Del Piero on his official website.

“My relationship with the Juve fans hasn’t stopped and never will.”

As the Sydney FC captain has yet to sign a new deal with the club, the friendly against Juventus – with whom he played for 19 years, making over 700 appearances and scoring 290 goals – could be his final match as a professional.

However, The Guardian reports that Del Piero has not necessarily ruled out signing an extension to stay in Sydney next season.

“It’s possible [the match against Juventus] will be my final one, but maybe not,” they quote him as saying.

“We’ll see what will happen for next season.

“I really don’t know what will happen, but everything is good at the moment.”
