Fiorentina forward Mario Gomez could be set to return to playing action next week in the Coppa Italia semi-final second leg against Udinese.
The German international has returned to training alongside his team-mates on Wednesday, having recovered from a recurring knee injury first suffered in September.
According to La Nazione, Gomez will miss the match against Atalanta but may be involved for next Tuesday’s Coppa clash with the 28-year-old reportedly feeling ready to return to action after nearly five months sidelined.
The Viola are understood to be keen not to rush the Stuttgart and Bayern Munich striker back into the starting line-up, but believe his condition should be suitable enough to be involved later in the game.
