Inter have officially announced the departure of technical director Marco Branca on Saturday.

The former Nerazzurri striker had taken the brunt of the blame for the failed swap deal involving Fredy Guarin and Juventus forward Mirko Vucinic during the January transfer window, and has become quite unpopular with the Inter fans, as well as club president Erick Thohir.

The Biscione released a statement on their official website on Saturday and announced their decision to terminate Branca’s contract, which was reportedly agreed upon a mutual basis.

“FC Internazionale wishes to announce that the club and Mr Marco Branca have reached an agreement to end their working relationship,” read the statement.

“FC Internazionale hands the reins of the club’s technical area to sporting director Piero Ausilio, who will report directly to managing director Marco Fassone.

“The club thanks Marco Branca for the valuable contribution he has made, first as a player and then as a director, and wishes him the best of luck with the next stage of his career.

“Mr Branca also thanks the club for the opportunities it has offered him over the years and for the prestigious results achieved together. He wishes Inter a highly successful future.”
