Honorary Inter president Massimo Moratti has distanced himself from the decision of majority shareholder Erick Thohir to remove Marco Branca from his position as technical director, but insisted you must respect the new owners’ judgement.

The 68-year-old highlighted the long standing working relationship he had held with the former Nerazzurri striker as the reason for such personal regret at his dismissal and indicated that the Indonesian could have shown a little more sensitivity during its undertaking.

“The decision was not up to me,” Moratti told Tuttomercatoweb. “But there is certainly regret because he worked with me for 10 years.

“It was totally unexpected, however I think the new owners want some new voices, and I think you have to respect that, but it would also be useful to show a touch of sensitivity toward the fans.

“Thohir must be more around more and rely only on people of which he has 100 per cent confidence.”
