Parma are reportedly looking to land Manchester United striker Federico Macheda once summer arrives.

The 22-year-old, who is currently on loan at Birmingham City, will be out of contract with the Red Devils come June and it seems that the Premier League side are set on letting him go rather than offer a renewal.

According to Tuttomercatoweb.com, Parma have already begun negotiations with United to secure the player on a free transfer at the end of the season, though exact details of an agreement are yet to be known.

The Crociati are also supposedly still deciding whether they would want to keep the former Italian Under-21 international or send him out on loan if they’re able to sign him.

Federico Macheda spent some time in the Manchester United youth academy before starting his professional career with them in 2008. The striker has had loan spells at a number of clubs in recent years including Sampdoria, Queens Park Rangers and VfB Stuttgart.
