Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo hit out at his own team fans as they whistled the Friuliani during the match against Atalanta.

After three years in the elite of Serie A Udinese find themselves battling to avoid relegation and their tifosi booed during Sunday’s 1-1 draw at home.

“This is a good point because Atalanta were well covered,” the 72-year-old told Udinese Channel. “The opponent here had strong values and we struggled after they took the lead”.

“Then, if we play at home and the crowd whistles. They are a harsh, for the team to do well in this League they need their fans.

“The public are crucial for a provincial club, they must be the 12th man. We are making many sacrifices for the new stadium because the team feels the warmth of their supporters.

“But the team needs them and is not helped by what I must say I do not like. I have heard whistles that have been undeserved. For those refined mouths we have to create only a team for the Scudetto.”
