Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon believes that the Bianconeri and Fiorentina have a lot to lose heading into their Europa League Round of 16 second leg at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

The tie is in the balance after a 1-1 draw in the first leg and the Juve goalkeeper is wary of the qualities that the opposition possess.

“Do we have more to lose or do they? I think everyone has plenty to lose, so neither particularly more than any other,” the 36-year-old told the pre-match press conference.

“We cannot hide the fact Fiorentina have some great players of international level, so they can make life difficult for us.

“They also have a very talented coach in Vincenzo Montella.

“As a goalkeeper, I have to keep a particular eye out for Mario Gomez among their players.”

Buffon also laughed off his alleged poor reputation from penalties after he parried away an Emanuele Calaio spot-kick in the 1-0 win at Genoa on Sunday.

“People didn’t check in the record books and look over the actual statistics,” he continued.

“When they bothered to do that, they realised it was an unfair assumption.

“The same goes for the claim Juventus are poor in Europe.

“Labels are easy to apply and there is always the opportunity to change people’s minds.”
