Newly reappointed Sassuolo boss Eusebio Di Francesco has revealed that he plans on bringing spirit back to the team now that he’s returned.

The 44-year-old, who was sacked by the Neroverdi on January 30th, has become coach of the club once again after Alberto Malesani has failed to lead the team to any victories during his five-game run, and is already having his squad participate in a ritiro – training camp – until their match with Bologna on March 9.

Di Francesco spoke during his return press conference about his mission to save the club from Serie A relegation, while also commenting on star Sassuolo striker Domenico Beraradi, who has been suspended for three matches after throwing an elbow in his team’s recent 1-0 loss to Parma.

“I return with enthusiasm, as we want to achieve our target of safety,” said the tactician.

“What I want to tell the lads is that there are 12 cup finals from here to the end of the season. I want to bring back spirit to the squad and everyone around the club.

“I want to get to know the new players better and try to unite the group, so a ritiro is the best way of achieving that.

“I believe the team has improved in many respects. Now I want to work on finding the right mix for this team.

“Berardi’s suspension? Domenico made a mistake, but it is a difficult time and we mustn’t forget he is only a kid. In this campaign he is the added bonus and we hope he can be as useful to the side as he always has been.”
