Inter owner Erick Thohir is considering bringing Marco Materazzi back to the club, according to reports.

The Indonesian aims to revive the club brand and sees club legends as a way of doing this, as shown by the parade of former players on the pitch before Thohir’s first home game as Inter owner in November.

TuttoMercatoWeb suggests that Materazzi could be one of the legends lined up for a return to the San Siro, although it is unclear what role the World Cup winner would undertake.

“I am an Inter fan, at the moment that is it. We will see about the rest of it,” Materazzi told Radio 24.

“I get the feeling that Thohir wants to do something important at the club, hopefully he will succeed.”

The former Perugia and Everton defender has been outspoken since retiring in 2011, criticising former teammates Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lucio, as well as former boss Rafa Benitez, amongst others.
