Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez has revealed that he’s ready to play in the Viola’s second leg Europa League round of 16 tie against Juventus on Thursday, though he admits the decision is ultimately up to Vincenzo Montella.

The 28-year-old, who recently returned to the Viola line up after being benched with a knee injury for several months, scored an equalising goal for his club in their first leg meeting with the Bianconeri at Juventus Stadium, which resulted in a 1-1 draw, and he now insists that he’s ready to give his all in Florence on Thursday.

Gomez spoke to Mediaset about the importance of winning the upcoming Europa League match against Juve and commented on the possibility of him making an appearance in the game.

“The match will start off with us on par,” said the German international. “We earned a good draw last Thursday and now a very important match awaits us at the Stadio Franchi.

“Juventus have been proving to be the strongest team in the league. The contest with the Bianconeri is for this whole city, I noticed this in the league match where Giuseppe Rossi scored a hat trick.

“Will I play on Thursday? I always hope to play, but it depends on the coach. The important thing is that I’m back on the pitch, I’m ready.”
