Genoa attacker Giuseppe Sculli has hailed his side’s victory against Lazio at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, heaping praise on Alberto Gilardino for scoring a “great goal”.

The Rossoblu had to work hard to claim a 2-0 win thanks to second-half goals from Gilardino and Giannis Fetfatzidis.

“It went well today and we played a good game against a first class team,” the 33-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was a very close game. They defended well but this game was played at good speed and Gilardino scored a great goal.”

The Italian was on the verge of moving to New York from the capital side, and admits he was surprised with the alleged transfer, but now feels settled in Liguria after clinching a loan move.

“I have not taken any pebble in the shoe. I was out at Lazio and I never understood why, although I have always accepted the situation peacefully. Now I’m here and I’m fine, I found my environment and my fans,” revealed the forward.

The Grifone will take on Hellas Verona at the Bentegodi on March 30. They currently sit 13th on the table, level on points with AC Milan.
