The German international was injured in the early stages of the season and after a lengthy spell in the sidelines he has finally returned to action.
“I don’t feel pain anymore. I feel well and that is the most important thing,” the 28-year-old told the press.
“A bit of patience is needed, I know that everyone already wants to see me out there at my best.
“I too wish I could go out onto the pitch and score a brace but I still lack match fitness.
“The training sessions and the matches will be important for me to get minutes.
“I almost feel like a new signing again here as I have had so little time on the pitch with my teammates.
Gomez was also asked about the Viola’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League this season.
“It’s still not over. We need to try our best in the last 12 matches but we know it will not be easy.”
