Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has stated that the reason behind his summer move to Inter was his need for a change after several seasons with the Premier League club.

The Red Devils have struggled under new manager David Moyes, with their most recent 3-0 loss to Liverpool seen as another crippling blow in what has been a disappointing season for the Manchester club.

Despite his team’s struggles, Vidic revealed that his desire for a new challenge was behind his decision to join the Italian club.

“At times one must accept the fact that it is time to change,” the Serbian told Sky Sports. “The moment to fight for new objectives and to have new struggles has arrived.

Vidic had long been linked with transfers to various top Italian sides, including Juventus and Fiorentina, before opting to join Erick Thohir’s club.

Manchester United are currently in seventh place in the English Premier League.
