Italy’s boss Cesare Prandelli backed his ‘code of ethics’ after excluding Daniele De Rossi from the squad that will face Spain on Wednesday.

The Azzurri chief dropped the the Giallorossi star from the friendly in Madrid after he punched Mauro Icardi during Roma’s match with Inter on Saturday.

“The code of ethics is our regulation,” Prandelli told the press. “From the first day, if I have seen something that I deem inappropriate, I will not call up that player.

“With De Rossi, I saw it on television and decided. The lad has accepted the decision.
‘I don’t want any crazy things happening in Brazil, so this is a warning.

The 56-year-old spoke also about Juventus’ Giorgio Chiellini who has called up despite having just recovered from injury.

“We’ve always had a good relationship with Juventus,” the tactician stated.

“Their doctor sent a message saying that all the players were okay, and that Giorgio had trained normally.”
