Juventus striker Fernando Llorente has commended his side for coming through a difficult test against AC Milan on Sunday evening.

The Bianconeri eventually ran out 2-0 winners at San Siro, with goals from Llorente and Carlos Tevez either side of half time extending their lead at the top of the table to 11 points, but the Rossoneri also made a good account of themselves on the night.

“It was a difficult game, they played well in the first half, putting us under pressure,” the 29-year-old told Mediaset after the final whistle.

“We didn’t expect that, and it cost us a little, but in the end we had a good passage of play leading up to the first goal, and after the interval we played better.”

Spain head coach Vincente Del Bosque recently stated that he felt guilty at having left the Basque forward out of la Furia Roja squad for Wednesday evening’s friendly against Italy at the Estadio Vincente Calderon.

“The World Cup is a while away,” he continued.

“The road is long and we still have a lot to prove from now until the end of the season. Anything can happen.”
