Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has revealed the Bianconeri are not bent on revenge but only focused on victory as his side take on Fiorentina three times over the next two weeks.

The two sides are set to meet on Sunday afternoon and will face each other in a Europa League round of 16 tie over the next two weeks. The Viola are the only squad to defeat Juventus in Serie A this season as they fought back from a 2-0 deficit to win 4-2 in what has been the only blemish on a near flawless league campaign by the Turin side.

In an interview at a commercial function in Turin, Marchisio said: “It’s not a revenge match but an important match against a great club. We have another opportunity to make an important mark in our season.”

The 28-year old has not enjoyed the same personal success or logged as much playing time this season as in the previous two campaigns, yet talks of a contract renewal for the former Juventus youth product are still rumoured. Marchiso played down such talk saying: “I don’t think about it as I have two years left on my current contract. It’s important to have faith in the club and in [coach Antonio] Conte who always listens to me.

“I look to improve my skills and play in more diverse roles. I changed positions and even though it meant the possibility of being on the bench more often, I’m always available and the most important thing a player can do is to be ready when called upon,” Marchisio stated.

With the Europa League final being played this season at Juventus stadium on May 14, Marchisio said the Bianconeri are aiming to hoist the trophy in front of their home fans.

“We have to give our maximum in these two [Europa League] matches. We will play with the same focus and determination in the Europa League as we do in Serie A,” Marchisio declared.
