Mertens – Napoli
Napoli striker Dries Mertens has spoken of his delight at making a goal scoring return to the side during Sunday’s 2-0 win over Juventus.
After missing the midweek win over Catania with an ankle injury, the Belgium international came off the substitutes bench to score his seventh goal of the season.
The 26-year-old described his strike against the Serie A leaders as a special moment, and also hailed the Partenopei medical staff for their efforts in getting him fit.
“Scoring yesterday was a special and exciting moment,” said Mertens on Twitter.
“Thanks to the medical staff for getting me ready so soon.”
Sunday’s match was Mertens’ 37th appearance for Napoli since joining from Dutch club PSV Eindhoven last summer.
