Napoli could be stepping up their pursuit of Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano.
Although no negotiations have formally taken place the initial groundwork is reportedly underway.
The whole deal could be completed in the coming weeks, with Mascherano set to join Napoli this summer, report Spanish newspaper Marca.
Napoli coach Rafael Benitez and Mascherano previously worked together with English club Liverpool while Jose Callejon has this week urged the Argentine to join him in Naples.
So far this season Mascherano has featured in 28 games for Barcelona.
