Gilardino – Genoa

Napoli’s first signing of the summer could potentially be Genoa’s Alberto Gilardino, while the Vesuvian club is also monitoring defenders with Premier League experience.

The Partenopei vastly improved their offensive department last summer with the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Jose Callejon and Dries Mertens, but have at times fallen short this season.

According to Il Mattino, Gilardino is set to leave Genoa at the end of the season, with two years remaining on his contract and Napoli see the 31-year-old striker as a viable option for creating squad depth.

The Italian international has netted 13 times in Serie A this season.

The Partenopei are also reportedly tracking defenders with Premier League experience such as: Javier Mascherano, Daniel Agger, Thomas Vermaelen, and Jan Vertonghen to strengthen their defence ahead of next season.
