Italian businessman Massimo Cellino feels “humiliated” by the English Football League in his protracted takeover attempt of Leeds United.

Cellino’s company, Eleonora sports, agreed to purchase a 75 percent stake in the second-division side from Bahrain-based investment bank GFH Capital two months ago.

However, he is still waiting to pass the Football League’s “fit and proper persons” test before the deal can be completed.

According to The Guardian, Cellino says he has been bankrolling Leeds the past two months and is frustrated by the protracted process.

“I’ve been humiliated enough so far,” he said. “I will wait for any decision from the league. If I am not accepted, I will go quietly.

“At this point, I wonder why I have been treated so badly after paying the salaries and debts over the past two months.”

The report states that the Football League is waiting until a court case brought against Cellino in the Italian courts for non-payment of a yacht is resolved before making a decision. Cellino denied any wrong doing in that case.

Celino, who has owned Serie A side Cagliari for more than two decades, was also convicted in 2001 for false accounting.

This is typical of the treatment the Football league has always administered to Leeds United. There are enough real criminals in Football to fill Wormwood Scrubs yet a man who has already showed how good he can be for LUFC is being treated so badly. The league is run by hypocrites who only have their own self interest in mind. If he does not get accepted can only hope he takes some form of legal action against the league.for there unreasonable and vindictive actions.
