After his free-kick just two minutes from time sealed victory for Juventus over Genoa on Sunday night midfielder Andrea Pirlo described the win as another step to a third consecutive title.
The veteran Italian also found time to praise the Grifone who nearly inflicted a surprise defeat on the Bianconeri if not for Emanuele Calaio’s weak penalty being saved by Gianluigi Buffon midway through the second half.
“It has been done, another step towards the Scudetto,” Pirlo told Sportmediaset.
“We knew it would be a tough game. Congratulations to Genoa, who made us suffer, but we wanted to continue our streak and we succeeded.
“The road to the Scudetto is still long, but the important thing is to keep winning to get closer to our goal.”
