It has emerged that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis used the recent Europe League tie with Porto to enquire about midfielder Fernando.
According to the Portuguese club De Laurentiis would like to make the Brazilian a Partenopei player in the summer.
With his contract running down the 26-year-old appeared close to joining Manchester City in the January transfer window.
However he agreed a new deal at the Estadio do Dragao, which reportedly includes a €30 million buy-out clause.
The player’s agent, Antonio Araujo, says that any talk of his future will be put on hold until the end of the current campaign.
“We are at a decisive moment in the season,” Araujo told tuttomercatoweb.com.
“We will monitor the situation in the coming months, but at the moment it is useless to talk about it.”
Fernando has made 32 appearances for Porto so far this season.
