Roma midfielder Rodrigo Taddei may sign a new deal with the club following Kevin Strootman’s season ending injury.

The 34 year old Brazilian has been thrust into contention for the central midfield position given Strootman’s anterior cruciate ligament injury, Daniele De Rossi’s suspension and Michael Bradley’s winter departure.

Sky Sport Italia reveal that Taddei rejected offers from Sampdoria, Livorno and Chievo Verona in the summer to stay with the Giallorossi and prove himself, and he will be given a chance due to the circumstances.

A fringe player for most of the season, Taddei may be looking forward to an extended run in the first team, and what seemed like an inevitable departure at seasons end could result in a dramatic U-turn.

Taddei has made nine appearances for Roma this campaign, and has a contract that is expiring at the end of the season.
