Sassuolo have reinstated former head coach Eusebio Di Francesco after sacking Alberto Malesani.

Last season’s Serie B champions decided to re-hire the ‘Silver Bench’ award winner with Malesani losing all five of his games in charge since he initially replaced Di Francesco in late January.

“Sassuolo Calcio can announce that we have released Mr Alberto Malesani as coach of the first team,” a statement on the club’s official website confirmed.

“Mr Malesani deserves thanks for the professionalism and commitment during a difficult stage in the championship.

“The technical guidance of the first team will be entrusted to Mr Eusebio Di Francesco.”

Sassuolo are currently bottom of the Serie A table and are four points adrift of safety with twelve rounds still to play.
