Former Juventus and Italy coach Giovanni Trapattoni defended current Bianconeri coach Antonio Conte’s policy to frequently rotate his starting lineup.

Conte has been subject to negativism from the fans for resting key players in important fixtures, most recently in the 1-1 draw at home against Fiorentina in the Round of 16 in the Europa League.

“Conte knows how to act, as only he knows the real condition of his players,” Trapattoni told Tuttosport.

“He has experience and is a winner with charisma and clear ideas. He has what it takes to make the right decisions and the club is also well-structured, accustomed to fighting on numerous fronts.”

Trapattoni said that after the success that Conte has achieved at Juventus, he should be trusted more with his coaching ideology.

“He is right to alternate the players, as this is indispensable to win the Scudetto and try to go all the way in the Europa League,” said the 75-year old specialist, who last coach the Republic of Ireland.

“Conte has created a winning group that is also consolidated psychologically.

“They know their worth and that they can reach their aims. It is the right attitude, one of a team that always wants to improve.”
