Juventus legend David Trezeguet believes that Carlos Tevez is worthy of wearing the famed number 10 shirt at the Serie A club.
The 30-year-old, who arrived at the Bianconeri from Manchester City before the start of the current season and was given the number 10 shirt previously worn by Juve legends including Alessandro Del Piero and Michel Platini, has been proving himself in Italy by scoring 16 goals in his 28 league appearances thus far.
Trezeguet spoke to Tuttosport and praised Tevez for his talent, while also commenting on legacy of the number 10 shirt at the Old Lady.
“Tevez is the right man for the game of [Antonio] Conte and the mentality of Juve,” said the 36-year-old, who played for Juventus from 1999-2010.
“He has great technique and never gives up, he’s like a beautiful animal. He’s proving to be worthy of wearing that glorious number 10 shirt every Sunday.
“Alex Del Piero is, and will always remain, a legend of Juventus. However, all things change in life.
“We must be able to turn the page, without forgetting those who, like Del Piero and Platini, have gotten wonderful results with that shirt.”
