Four months after his last match, AC Milan starlet Stephan El Shaarawy has resumed playing after taking part in a primavera match.
The forward played 35 minutes for Milan against Hellas Verona, which ended 2-1 for the home side, and was content to be back.
“These last few months have been tough but I am happy,” El Shaarawy told Sportmediaset.
“My first training session with the team was exciting but many were close to me.
“[Filippo] Inzaghi told me to commit and I felt good, with the right spirit.
“I am giving everything I have to return [to the first team] as soon as possible, I am looking forward to helping Milan reach Europe.
“Then there is the national team, I believe in a call up [for the World Cup] and I want a spot in the squad.
“The recent call up by [Cesare] Prandelli was a commendation, I felt well and I was happy to meet again all my Azzurri teammates.”
El Shaarawy has been sidelined for four months after undergoing surgery to fix a problem in the fourth metatarsal bone of his left foot.
