Corini: Important victory that tested Chievo’s character

Chievo coach Eugenio Corini has said his side have taken an “important step” towards safety after their 4-2 victory over relegation threatened Livorno on Sunday afternoon.

An Alberto Paloschi hat-trick helped the Gialloblu move five points clear of the relegation zone with five games to play.

“It was an important game and it was played very well by my players,” said Corini while speaking to Rai Sport.

“It was a test of character and the boys deserve this satisfaction, it’s an important step towards safety.

“The next game against Sassuolo? A win would be crucial to stay in the top flight because it would give us an advantage in the head-to-head.”
