Former Bologna star Alessandro Diamanti has spoken about his new experience at Guangzhou, stating that the presence of Marcello Lippi has been fundamental in his adapting to his new surroundings.

The 30-year-old playmaker  joined the Chinese club in February for €7 million despite Bologna being in the middle of a relegation battle.

“The adaption has been far easier than I expected because there is the Italian staff and very helpful teammates, even though some mechanisms are not perfect,” Diamanti told Bundesligapremier.it

“As for the climate, it is taking a bit longer because here it is hot and moist, but I am also adapting to that.

“I am happy for the goals and doing well with a team that won everything over the past few years makes me very happy.

“I have to keep working and this is what I will try to do.”

Diamanti also commented on the competitiveness of the Chinese League.

“The level is much superior to what I thought because they have started to buy foreigners.

“They have a lot of money to invest. Every team wants to try its best and therefore the level of the league has increased.”

He concluded by speaking of the importance of the presence of Lippi in his decision to move to Guangzhou.

“Surely Lippi has been important for my arrival here.

“I was glad to find the coach because he has won everything and it is a pleasure to be coached by him.”
