Sebastian Giovinco’s agent, Andrea D’Amico, has spoken of his shock at his client’s non-call up to the Azzurri’s 42-men test squad.

Cesare Prandelli selected two groups of players to go through physical performance reviews at Coverciano, but Giovinco was one of the notable names left behind.

With the World Cup fast approaching, this puts a big question mark over Giovinco’s hopes of appearing in Brazil, with D’Amico thinking the Juventus man would be a great loss to the national side.

“It says a lot, Prandelli knows him very well,” said D’Amico to tuttomercatoweb.com.

“I’m amazed by this choice, it is true that he has not played much, but it is not for his demerits – he has been behind a certain Carlos Tevez.”

Including four Olympic appearances, Giovinco has played 21 times for Italy.

The 27-year-old was part of the Euro 2012 runners-up squad, and also featured for the Azzurri in the Confederations Cup.
