Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin has signalled his intention to stay at the club for a long time after signing a contract extension last month.

The 27-year-old, who was linked with a move to Juventus and Chelsea in January, extended his contract with the Nerazzurri till 2017 thereby squashing all rumours about his future.

“I have agreed to a new deal and I hope to sign another contract once this expires,” said Guarin at a recent event organised by Nike.

The Colombian international believes patience is the key if his side are to play European football again.

However, the Nerazzurri at present occupy the last European spot in the Serie A table, sitting fifth on 50 points due to a superior goal difference over sixth placed Parma.

“We are enthusiastic to return to Europe but we have to wait and be patient.

“It is fundamental for a team like Inter to play European football.”

Guarin has played 31 games this season and scored four goals.
